Historical weather vane returns to the spire of Knesselaar church

Verstraete.team re-presented mondaymorning the restored weather vane of the Knesselaar church spire to the Saint-Willibrordus Church Council on Monday morning. Following the devastating storm Eunice, which severely damaged the weather vane, our team sprang into action to salvage this iconic symbol.

Toon emphasizes the significance of this restoration: "The weather vane was previously restored in 2005, but unfortunately, a recent storm caused damage once again. We are proud to have completed this important restoration and regilded the weather vane. Our promise was to reinstall the weather vane by Easter, and we are delighted to have fulfilled that promise."

The reinstallation of the weather vane took place today. This symbolic moment occurred on the 65-meter-high church spire, which is not only the tallest in Aalter but also the second tallest in Meetjesland, according to Mayor Pieter De Crem.

This restoration project reflects the strong community ties and cultural heritage of Knesselare while also underscoring Verstraete.team's commitment to craftsmanship and the preservation of historical heritage.
