Redemptoristines Monastery
A beautiful renovation project in the center of Bruges, the transformation of the old Redemptoristines Monastery into student rooms with commercial spaces on the ground floor.
The City of Bruges imposed several important requirements for these works. The ground floor corridor had to be restored to its original state, and the doors of the old rooms had to be preserved on the upper floors.
The dismantling of the existing monastery and the structural works began in late 2013. The building was completely stripped, with only the load-bearing walls remaining. All intermediate floors were replaced with a steel grid system, and all roofs were renewed. The layout of the student rooms was achieved through the use of drywall partitions, with a dry floor system to enhance acoustic properties.
